The Calgary North Veterinary Hospital medical department provides high quality 24-hour professional care and hospitalization. Our medical and critical care team has vast experience in:
- Trauma (vehicular injury, dog/coyote attacks, major trauma)
- Toxicity management (eg. antifreeze, acetominophen, chocolate, rodenticides, strychnine)
- Post-operative care
- Endocrine diseases (diabetes, Addison's, Cushing's disease and hyperthyroidism)
- Medical conditions involving all body systems (heart , lungs, neurologic, kidneys, liver, etc)
- Separate canine and feline isolation wards for infectious disease treatment.
Special diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as:
- thoracocentesis and abdominocentesis
- chest tubes
- stomach, esophageal, jejunal feeding tube placement (surgical, endoscopic)
- oxygen Therapy
- nasal oxygen therapy
- continuous 24 hour monitoring
- intravenous therapy including constant rate infusion
- whole blood, plasma, or packed red blood cell transfusions
